George Smith is the Founder and President of GBR Smith Group, a recruitment solutions leader within the environmental consulting, engineering/construction and petrochemical industries. This includes the Top 500 engineering, architectural & environmental design firms and the Top 200 environmental firms (as listed in Engineering News Record.)

Prior to founding GBR Smith Group in 2005, he had more than 30 years of business experience in environmental consulting, remediation, engineering & construction, and refining/petrochemical industries. His practical experience ranges from marketing, business development, strategic planning, operations management, project management to engineering. This includes more than 25 years of hands-on experience in talent assessment, recruitment and management of engineers and scientists. He has worked for companies such as Bechtel, Fluor-Daniel, Harding Lawson Associates and ARCADIS.

George earned a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arkansas, and an M.B.A. degree from Harvard Business School. He currently serves as the President of the Western States Petroleum Association, Northern California Associates Chapter. He also is the President and a member of the Board of Directors of the Contra Costa County Industrial Association. He is the Co-Chair of the Environmental and Manufacturing Task Force for the Contra Costa Council, and also serves on the Executive Committee for the Council. In 2004, George was appointed as a Commissioner on the Hazardous Materials Commission for Contra Costa County, and continues to serve in that role.

Stephanie Simmons is a Senior Search Consultant with GBR Smith Group, focusing on the Engineering, Construction and Petroleum industries. She has a proven track record in identifying and assessing the needs of her clients, and developing best possible solutions to meet their requirements. Stephanie utilizes her entrepreneurial skills to find the best possible match of candidates for her clients.

Prior to joining GBR Smith Group, Stephanie worked in increasingly responsible sales and service positions in the hospitality and restaurant business. She is known for her outgoing personality, organization skills, training skills, and adhering to the highest levels of internal and external customer service.

Stephanie grew up in the Washington, D.C. area and attended The University of Maryland, College Park, where she studied psychology and education. Stephanie is a diehard sports fan, and finds great enjoyment watching her beloved Washington Redskins and Maryland Terrapins.

Jim Woollett has a 20 year distinguished career in Executive Search. He has been a principal contributor to successful operations in search management at the highest levels. He spent 14 years with leading executive search firms, including eight years with the world's largest firm, Korn Ferry. Working with many leading companies, he has demonstrated a skill for placing key executives and in developing client relations. Most of his clients have been in the engineering, construction and technology industries.

Jim's executive search career has been a natural step from experience as the top Human Resources executive in technology-based companies. He was also Employment Manager and HR Generalist at Bechtel Corporation. In these assignments, emphasis has always been placed on building management teams and working with employees to produce excellence in company operations. "I have found that Company culture reflects management philosophy and daily decisions. Matching new employees to company culture and values is a vital process. When you have quality leadership and skillful management, it makes a significant difference in bottom-line results."

Jim earned a B.A. degree from Pomona College, where he attended on a full scholarship. He has completed extensive MBA course work at Santa Clara University. He is a former member of the Board of Directors and an officer of the Northern California Human Resources Association and is past President of the Fifty-Plus Lifelong Fitness Association.

Kristin Smith works for GBR Smith Group as a search consultant and project coordinator, focusing on the engineering and construction industries. She is strongly committed to a “win-win” approach in recruiting, which results in a successful outcome for both her clients and candidates.

Prior to joining the GBR Smith Group, Kristin worked in sales and recruiting positions, which provided valuable training for her current role. She understands the strength of a shared vision, common goals, and mutual respect between employer and employee as key parts of the equation for long-term success.

Kristin earned her B.A. degree in Sociology from the University of California, Davis.
